Please call for special requests.
We specialize in Digital Photography, however by request we still offer medium format film. What are the advantages of each?
Why offer both? How do I decide which one is right for me?
Digital is fast, there's no wait time to get proofs back in the mail.
You can view pictures as they are taken, before you leave your session to make sure you got the shot you want. Files are quickly loaded to computer for safe storage.
Then you can view them from home on your own computer within 72 hours of the session by logging onto out website in your own client gallery.
No need for an additional meeting to view proofs. Images remain on gallery for 60 days, and you can place your order on line or by phone.
Images are easily retouched, and basic retouching is done free of charge, however difficult retouching may have added charge.
You can purchase a disk of all the images or purchase just the ones you want. Images are taken more quickly with digital and you will have a larger variety of images to choose from.
For clients who require same day prints, images can be burned to a disk and printed almost instantly.
Medium Format Film is beautiful and timeless. Enlargements larger than 16X20 are clear without any trace of pixels.
There is always a true negative to return to without fear of a digital glitch in the file. Photo session takes a little longer even with fewer pictures.
Camera is manual everything, and each picture is light metered and manually focused. Film is sent to lab for processing and proofing.
Proofs are printed in about a week and returned as 5x5 square images. Proofs can be viewed without the use of a computer, however a meeting for viewing needs to be set.
Film is more traditional, and portraits are printed as taken. Retouching is still available with images taken with film, but need to be done by lab and can be costly.
Film images are hand carded and cropped. Negatives are kept on record for at least a year, so orders can be placed over the phone.
Twelve exposures are on each roll of Kodak Professional 120 film. Choosing to go medium format is a more of an investment, but if you love the look of traditional film than this is for you.
If you require a large number of images to be taken, have multiple people, pets, or someone who requires retouching; digital is most likely your better choice.
However, if a large timeless wall portrait to hang over your mantle is what you are after, than maybe film should be your choice.
I am happy to shoot with either camera. I love them both, so the option is yours.
Please call for sitting information of visit our new website at http://www.calliesportraits.com for pricing.
Film prices are quoted by phone depending on quantity of film to be taken and time booked for photo session.
You have a choice in session locations: in-studio session with professional lighting, backdrops and props are taken at my home studio,
or we can go on location to one of your favorite places. Living here in the North West we have so many wonderful areas to go, however all outdoor sessions is weather permitting.
We also have available our beautiful private beach on the north end of Camano Island.
Regardless of which sitting you choose, all enlargements are printed on E surface paper. Each image is also individually viewed and
color corrected to ensure quality skin tones. Most labs no longer color correct, they print as is. I feel it is important to have that extra step and make sure all my images
are corrected by a professional lab for superior portraits. Color, Black and White, and Sepia are also an option for both digital and film at no additional charge.
I appreciate the time you've spent looking at my images and hope you have gained a better idea of the possibilities for you and your loved ones.
I look forward to speaking with you about your portrait needs. You can also check out my blog space for promotional discounts and other great information that may be helpful to you.
